Recent employment and work experience

2012-present Owner and managing director of JÁKUPSSON, currently in development of a new TV series as well as launching a new online music video channel and a new website for eclectic Faroese record label TUTL Records. Over the past few years, JÁKUPSSON has produced a variety of written features, teasers, interviews, adverts, music videos, documentaries and short films. JÁKUPSSON offers cost-effective top-quality production and consulting services with work featured on major television networks in the US and Canada - amongst others NBC, ABC, TNT, AMC, CNN, MSNBC, Discovery, Food Network, Lifetime, HGTV and WE - across all the major online networks, as well as on MTV, VH1, Fuse, Palladia and other European music channels.

2012-2014 Head of Video at IBTIMES. Successful in implementing a more efficient, flexible and effective workflow across the network (whose UK site alone draws in over 7 million visitors a month), increasing the editorial output, strengthening the social and brand identity and improving upon the quality of productions (counting around 75 a week) whilst reducing costs. In charge of a talented team of full-time staff and freelancers,
delivering new programming and outlining new content and digital strategies for further business development. Received Commendation at the Online Media Awards 2013 for Best Video Journalism as runner-up to the BBC.

2010-2012 Audio-visual freelancer for Island Records, Global and 24-7 Productions, working as consultant, editor, grader and sound designer on a variety of projects, sold to major media outlets.
2008 Organizer at the TransAtlantic Climate Conference, in charge of speaker presentations, official website, editing and uploading of video clips for online broadcasting of the event. Keynote speaker was former American Vice-President, Mr. Al Gore.

2006-2008 Freelance investigative correspondent. Researched and wrote special reports for various national newspaper and business titles in addition to reviews and general news.

2010-2011 Course representative at University of Westminster, helping to enforce change through feedback from postgraduate students to committee meetings with heads of school, course leaders and lecturers.

2002-present Musician and manager of own work, whilst collaborating with a number of awardwinning international artists.

1998-2007 Volunteer for Tónleikasamtakið Grót and the G! Festival, helping organize, perform and promote countless concerts and other music-related events, which have played a valuable part in forming the modern Faroese music scene. The G! Festival has regularly featured in international outlets, such as The Guardian and BBC, hailed as one of the go-to festivals in Europe.
